One who did not acquire knowledge in the first stage of life, Brahmacharya, Grihastha, Vanprastha, fame, what will he do in the fourth stage of life, Sanyas?
There are four stages in a man’s life: Brahmacharya, Grihastha, Vanprastha, and Sanyas. One who has fulfilled the prescribed duties in the first three stages does not have to strive for salvation in the fourth stage/Sanyas.
If knowledge is not acquired in the first stage of life, Brahmacharya, wealth is not earned in the second stage, Grihastha, fame is not earned in the third stage, Vanprastha, then what is the benefit of taking Sanyas in the fourth stage? Only if prescribed duties are performed in all the four stages of life can one attain salvation. Life is not about running away from duties.
