In the direction of Dakshina or prediction, some people consult astrologers so that they can know about upcoming tasks, problems, and future events. However, some people believe that astrology is just a service of necessity and use it for guidance in personal and social life.
If you ask for a solution from an astrologer without Dakshina, then there is no particular fault in it. It depends on your personal religious or belief point of view. It is important in your beliefs, convictions, and perspective of your life what kind of advice and guidance you like.
If the astrologer is a professional then you should give his prescribed Dakshina because he is guiding you as a Guru, if you do not give, then there will be no fault of the Guru, and if he does not accept Dakshina then you can give Dakshina in any temple according to your faith but do thank the astrologer.
Without Dakshina, Yagya Is Fruitless
The significance of any Yagya is only due to Dakshina. Dakshina is the name of a goddess who is the wife of Yagya. Since the wife is the better half, no Yagya can ever be complete without Dakshina. According to the Gita, only Yagya is Satvik which is performed according to the instructions of the scriptures. The Yagya which is performed without faith, without paying Dakshina to the Vedic mantras and the priests, by disregarding the orders of the scriptures, is a Tamasik Yagya. Without Dakshina, the person who performs such a Yagya neither gets fame nor happiness and attains ultimate salvation. It means that the Yagya performed by him becomes fruitless.
How Much Dakshina Should Be Given To Whom
It is believed that after the completion of Yagya etc., the person should give proper Dakshina to the priest who performed the puja. If a person is rich, he should happily give double the amount of Dakshina than usual and if someone is very rich, he should give three times the amount of Dakshina. If someone is poor, he should give half the amount of Dakshina than usual and if someone is extremely poor, he should give one-fourth of the amount of Dakshina than usual.
When Should Dakshina Be Given?
Dakshina should be given immediately after any Puja, Havan Yagna, etc. There should never be any delay in giving Dakshina. It is believed that Dakshina should be given within a maximum of one Ghaati i.e. 24 minutes after Puja. After this, Dakshina keeps on increasing with time, not giving which leads to the sin of Brahmacharya. In such a situation, we should always give Dakshina immediately after Puja.
